Traffic is Under Control
Generating detailed statistics and reports, exporting data
So far, we've been discussing the overall traffic statistics, such as the amount of traffic transferred over a certain period of time. However, CommTraffic can give you much more detailed information on which web sites have been visited, and what protocols and ports have been involved in data exchange. It is particularly interesting when you monitor a LAN segment and need to know how the Internet connection is being used.

This kind of information is accessible via the Reports item on the View pane. There you can see several subitems that let you view a number of reports; such as local hosts, remote hosts to which connections has been made, network protocols, remote ports, etc. Each page displays statistics collected over a certain period of time. Clicking on the Period button can change this time period. For each item on the list, you can see the amount of incoming and outgoing traffic as well as the item's share in the total traffic volume.
The Action item in the program's main menu allows you to perform many useful actions. For example, you can copy fields or entire pages to the clipboard (Copy), save pages to the hard drive in TXT, RTF, XLS, HTML, or XML format (Save), or send the page contents to the printer (Print).
To get more information about remote hosts, you can use SmartWhois, another product by TamoSoft. This utility makes it possible find out all available information about an IP address, host name, or domain; including country, state or province, city, name of the network provider, administrator and technical support contact information.
